Shackles & Tie Downs

Caravan Shackles & Tie Downs

Shop shackles and tie-down gear for caravans, campers and RVs—perfect for securing loads, organising storage, and creating strong tie points where you need them. Whether you’re fitting new tie-down points, replacing worn hardware, or setting up storage for travel, the right gear helps keep everything stable and safe on the road.

Before ordering, check the size you need and how it mounts. If you’re securing heavier items, make sure the shackle or tie point is suitable for the load and that it’s mounted into a strong substrate (not just thin sheet). For exterior use, corrosion-resistant hardware is a smart choice, especially in coastal areas.

If you’re unsure, start with the job: tie-down points for storage/boot compartments, mounting points for accessories, or general transport tie downs. Matching the right size and using solid mounting hardware makes all the difference.

What size shackle do I need?
Start with the pin diameter and the size of the strap/anchor point it needs to fit. If it’s replacing an existing shackle, match the pin size and overall opening. For heavier loads, always check the rating and use a suitable mounting point.
Many do. If the product lists a rating, only use it within that rating and with correctly installed mounting hardware. If you’re unsure, choose a stronger option and mount it into a solid structure—not thin sheet.
Mount into structural members where possible (solid timber/metal framing) or use proper backing plates/spreaders. Avoid mounting heavy tie-downs into thin wall panels without reinforcement.
Use the correct fasteners, washers and nyloc nuts where appropriate, and re-check after the first trip. Vibration is common in caravans, so secure mounting and periodic checks help.
Stainless is a good choice for corrosion resistance, especially if you travel near the coast. Just ensure the hardware is suitable for the application and mounted properly.
Only use gear that is specifically rated and intended for recovery/towing. General tie-down points are often not designed for recovery loads. If you need recovery-rated gear, choose products that clearly state their rating and purpose.
